Former lawmen sentenced to 10-40 years in ‘Goon Squad’ case
SUMMARY: Former officers Brett McAlpin and Joshua Hart were sentenced for racially motivated attack on Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker. McAlpin received over 27 years and Hart got 10 years. Prosecutors said McAlpin was the ringleader, while Hartfield was the least involved. Both apologized in court. Parker thanked the court system for showing justice can be served. The officers still face state charges and a $400 million civil rights lawsuit. The victims expressed relief that justice was served, despite a long and difficult week.

University of Mississippi graduate student's book lands a Netflix deal

Bedner's collection of essays is in development for a TV series titled “Calabasas.” Bedner, a student in the master's program in creative writing at Ole Miss, is excited about the opportunity. The show will be produced by names like Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian. Bedner is thrilled and still can't believe the news. Updates on the production and air date of the series will be provided in the future.

Pine Grove baseball beats Biggersville to move on to the State Championship
