2 Black men tortured by Mississippi officers call for toughest sentences
SUMMARY: Two men, Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Parker, were subjected to violent torture last year by six former law enforcement officers, dubbed the “Goon Squad.” The officers illegally entered their home, abused, sexually assaulted, and shot Jenkins in the mouth. The victims and their attorneys are hoping for maximum penalties to be imposed during this week's federal court sentencings. Activists and supporters, including “Black Men Against Murder” founder Ted Sutton, are showing their support for the victims. Two of the six defendants will be sentenced on Tuesday, with the remaining four to be sentenced on Wednesday and Thursday.

USM baseball extends winning streak to eight games

Monday morning storm splits tree at Lamar County's Optimist Park playground
