Long Beach High shows senior citizens a shamrockin’ time with St. Patty’s themed prom
SUMMARY: A recent outage was due to weather conditions but has now been restored. Long Beach senior citizens are able to relive some fun memories by attending a senior citizen prom event organized by the students. This event aims to bring more awareness to the community and bridge the gap between different generations. The student council president, Jared Smith, mentions that this event is an opportunity for everyone to learn from one another. Senior citizen Jane Wallace expresses her excitement for such events and the chance to participate in activities that bring people together.
Senior citizens of Long Beach were able to participate in bingo, karaoke, dancing, ladder ball, and corn hole, just to name a few activities.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Vancleave @ East Central (5/11/2024) [5A Playoffs, South State]
SUMMARY: In the 5A State softball series, East Central Lady Hornets defeated Van Cleave to win the title. The game saw Kinsey Cochran scoring a run in the fourth inning, followed by a solo shot from Kaye Lawson in the fifth inning. Khloe Shepard also contributed by scoring in the same inning. East Central secured a five to nothing victory and qualified to face Corinth in Hattisburg the following week. The game showcased a strong performance from East Central, leading them to victory in the State softball series.

Keesler Air Force Base holds 36th annual Special Olympics
SUMMARY: The 36th annual Special Olympics at Keesler Air Force Base had the theme “Adventure is out there.” Over 500 athletes with special needs were paired with Airman volunteers to participate in nine different sports like volleyball, powerlifting, and track racing. Colonel Billy Pope described the event as a privilege to have on the base, praising the athletes for their determination and hard work. Both volunteers and athletes are looking forward to next year's Olympics, emphasizing the impressive attitude and drive displayed by the participants.

MGCCC graduates receive diploma during 2024 Spring Commencement
SUMMARY: Today, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is honoring its graduates at the 2024 spring commencement ceremony at the coast coliseum. Students from Harrison Jackson and Perkinston campuses are walking the stage to receive their degrees and certifications. Brandon Elliott of Elliott Homes is the guest speaker at the event, with over 1,200 students participating. The graduates have worked hard and dedicated themselves to their educational goals, with Dr. Graham handing out the degrees. One student is excited to receive their associate's degree while still in high school, in order to pursue a four-year college and a master's degree in a shorter time frame. Congratulations to all the 2024 graduating classes on their achievements.
