Monroe County Electric Power Association awarded with funding
SUMMARY: Monroe County Electric Power Association received over $1.5 million from FEMA for emergency protective measures after a tornado on March 24th. The funding will cover the replacement of 88 electric power poles, 22 transformers, 20 meters, and over 3,000 feet of service wire. Contractors and mutual aid labor were used during the recovery process. FEMA authorized a 100% federal cost share for emergency protective measures from March 24th to April 23rd, selected by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. Monroe County EPA is responsible for providing electrical services to members who were affected by power outages from the storm.

Three found dead inside Ridgeland home identified
SUMMARY: The victims of a triple homicide have been identified as 76-year-old Ida Welch, 56-year-old Vicky Welch, and 42-year-old Crystal Welch. They were found shot to death in their home on Old Canton Road. Police Chief Brian Meyer stated that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. VISIT MERIDIAN HOSTING HOSPITALITY HERO CONTEST
