SUMMARY: The Forrest County NAACP plans to share concerns over the possibility of drones being used by the Hattiesburg police and fire departments. City leaders are holding meetings with neighbors to discuss the possibility of equipping the fire and police departments with drones. Chapter president is asking for in-depth research to ensure that privacy of the citizens, especially low-income people, is not violated. The city is also asking residents for opinions about cameras that check to make sure a vehicle has state-required liability insurance. The final meetings for ward 4 and ward 5 residents are scheduled for next week on February 27th.

Chapter president Clarence Magee recently penned an open letter to Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker, discussing the pros and cons of implementing the drones.
