Mississippi lieutenant governor proposes Medicaid expansion
SUMMARY: Mississippi's lieutenant governor is proposing to expand Medicaid in the state, potentially providing coverage for over 200,000 people. The bill would require proof of work and insurance contributions for those making between $15,000 to $41,000 for a family of four. Governor Tate Reeves, previously against expansion, could still veto the proposal if it passes. The lieutenant governor believes now is the time for Mississippi to keep up with nearby states. The proposal has been filed after collaboration with lawmakers from both the House and Senate.
