Can Mississippi strip felons, including tree thieves, of voting rights? Federal judges hear the case
SUMMARY: Mississippi can permanently strip voting rights from people convicted of certain felonies, including nonviolent crimes, even after completing their sentences. The state bans voting for those convicted of 22 specific felonies, with the state arguing it is a nonpunitive regulation and not cruel and unusual. The outcome of a legal case will determine if tens of thousands of people will be able to regain their right to vote, but a decision is not expected in the near future.

Key features include memorial plaques, a RF-4C Phantom II jet, and planned additions like the Armed Forces Plaza and a UH-1 Huey helicopter. The park, open seven days a week and free to the public, serves as both a memorial and educational experience.
