Misinformation may have been ‘deliberate attempt’ to disrupt service
SUMMARY: Officials with JXN Water in Mississippi are concerned about the spread of misinformation online leading to issues with the water system. They believe the misinformation was a deliberate attempt to disrupt water services for all JXN Water customers. The post that went viral created an additional demand of over 4 million gallons, resulting in the loss of system pressure for 12,000 customers. JXN Water officials are working with law enforcement to identify the source of the post and determine if criminal intent was involved. They encourage all customers to verify information about the water system through their official website or call center.
