SEC announces women’s basketball conference slate

The 2023-24 season matchups for Mississippi and have been announced. Mississippi State will have eight home against Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Florida, and Ole Miss. They will have eight away games against Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, South Carolina, A&M, and Ole Miss. Ole Miss will have eight home games against Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, and Georgia. They will have eight away games against Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State. Dates and times for the matchups will be announced later.

Ridgeland triple homicide suspect had long criminal history

SUMMARY: A mother and her two daughters were shot and killed in Ridgeland, Mississippi. The , Ivory James Welch III, was involved in a gunfight with Arizona troopers and was killed. The victims were identified as Ida Welch, 76; Vicky Renee Welch, 56; and Crystal Lynn Welch, 42. Ridgeland Chief Brian Myers mentioned that Welch had a history of mental illness and previous encounters with enforcement. The motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing with the of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Welch had an extensive criminal history of domestic assaults and simple assaults dating back to 2006.

Voters head to polls to decide on CMSD $36M bond for renovations

The polls will close at 7 p.m. The bond issue aims to address various needs across the district.

Crash on Natchez Trace kills one, seriously injures two others

SUMMARY: A fatal collision on the Natchez Trace in Prentiss County, Mississippi resulted in one and two serious injuries. The occurred between 4 and 5 a.m. near mile marker 285 and involved two vehicles, one of which was pulling a boat. One person died at the scene, while two others were airlifted to area hospitals. Park rangers are currently investigating the accident, and further information, the names of those involved, will be released by the Natchez Trace park rangers.
