SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves has proposed a plan to provide nearly $700 million in funding to hospitals in Mississippi. The plan includes direct payments to hospitals serving patients in the Mississippi Medicaid managed care delivery system, as well as supplemental Medicaid base payment rates for hospitals. The plan requires approval from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services organization and would start retroactively from July 1 of this year. The governor's proposal aims to provide financial support to struggling hospitals without increasing the number of people on Medicaid.
