The case was filed by Claudia Linares after her husband, Ismael Lopez, was killed. The officers had been sent to serve an arrest warrant for a neighbor who had allegedly choked a woman. The officers claimed that they saw a rifle aimed at them through a crack in the door, prompting them to fire shots, one of which struck Lopez in the head.
