Federal court strikes down Alabama’s second attempt to avoid majority Black Congressional district

The federal court criticized Alabama's actions in the case, stating that the state enacted a map that did not meet federal law requirements. The judges, two of whom were appointed by former president Donald Trump, noted that white voters currently hold the majority in six out of seven congressional districts, despite 27% of the state's population being black. The judges have ordered a special master to submit three proposed maps that would rectify this issue.
