Lake Monroe to reopen for first time since March tornado
SUMMARY: Good news for anglers! Lake Monroe, which was extensively damaged by a tornado in March, is reopening on Saturday, September 2nd. The 99-acre state fishing lake, located in Monroe County, Mississippi, between Aberdeen and Amory, will be open for both bank and boat fishing. However, the campground and buildings will remain closed until further notice. Despite enduring the storms earlier this year, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks is excited to welcome anglers back to Lake Monroe for fishing.
Lake Monroe will soon reopen for the first time since late March when a tornado swept through the area.
SUMMARY: Alabama signed into law House Bill 163 to address the nationwide nursing shortage. Governor Ivey signed the bill in Demopolis, establishing the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences. This move is hailed as a significant investment in West Alabama, aiming to open doors for more students and increase the state's healthcare workforce. Heath sellers, the Parks and Recreation coordinator, is hopeful that the cleanup will be completed soon.
