Mississippi Aquarium prepares to open $4 million expansion
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Aquarium, which opened in 2020, is expanding after receiving feedback from visitors. They have invested $4 million into the aquarium, adding 7,000 more square feet of space, 130 new species, and three different biomes: a kelp forest, a coral reef, and a rainforest. The rainforest will feature animals such as Madagascar hissing cockroaches, which play a vital role in the ecosystem. The expansion will also provide permanent homes for animals like sloths and armadillos, which previously lived off-site. The aquarium is set to open next Friday, and they are currently offering discounted annual passes during a limited-time sale.

Metal barn damaged by fire in Jones County
SUMMARY: Last night, volunteer firefighters in Jones County responded to a fire at a barn on Highway 29 South. The fire occurred around 9 p.m. and caused significant damage to the metal barn filled with hay bales. Good Samaritans helped by using their tractors to move the hay bales.
