Mississippi SNAP recipients urged to report EBT thefts
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) has received reports of individuals gaining access to SNAP EBT card numbers and PIN through skimming. Skimming is a fraud technique where criminals collect or copy card information. MDHS is advising SNAP clients who suspect they have been a victim of skimming to call the Mississippi EBT card holder service center to report the compromise and create a new PIN. They should also file a report with the MDHS Office of Inspector General fraud hotline for an investigation. SNAP participants are encouraged to use complex PINs, change them frequently, keep them secret, monitor their accounts for unauthorized charges, and check card reading machines for suspicious devices.
