American Red Cross continues work in Amory after March tornado
SUMMARY: The American Red Cross North Mississippi Chapter is always prepared to respond to disasters in Mississippi and Alabama, providing food and shelter in the first critical hours. The organization relies heavily on volunteers, who make up 90% of its workforce. Currently, the Red Cross is still assisting those affected by the March tornado outbreak in Amory, with nearly 200 people living in hotels and being taken care of by Red Cross volunteers. The North Mississippi chapter serves counties along and north of Highway 82, with 133 people in Lowndes County being helped last fiscal year.
