Mississippi lt. governor candidates discuss healthcare
SUMMARY: With the primary elections approaching in Mississippi, healthcare is a major concern for voters. Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann plans to re-evaluate how healthcare is funded and administered in the state if re-elected. He wants to involve hospitals, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists in the process to determine the standard of care and the associated costs. State Senator Chris McDaniel believes that personal responsibility and healthier living are also important in fixing the healthcare system. Republican candidate Tiffany Longino emphasizes Medicaid expansion and education as key parts of her healthcare agenda. Both Hosemann and McDaniel believe that Medicaid expansion alone is not the solution. The primary elections will be held on August 8th.
