More discussions held for Shady Grove VFD
SUMMARY: The Jones County Board of Supervisors is preparing for an upcoming event that they expect to be even bigger than last year. They discussed plans to expand the Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department, believing it can provide about $30,000 for the project. However, the total cost is estimated to be more than $125,000. The supervisors will now begin the process to bid out the project and advertise it to gather more information.
The next steps in the process are expected to be discussed during the next board meeting.

Food drive held Friday in Prentiss County
SUMMARY: The Princess County Sheriff's Office is tackling more than crime by aiding seniors and residents facing food insecurity. During a food drive at the Agra Center, the turnout was substantial, with lines wrapping around the parking lot. Attendees received boxes of food, including potatoes, onions, and fresh fruit, thanks to the Mid-South Food Bank's support. This event has been held bi-weekly for over six years, growing from 50 to over 250 boxes distributed each session. Both recipients and deputies, including inmate labor, find the effort rewarding. The next drive is scheduled for June 28th. Live in Prince County, Gabe Mayner, WTV A9 News.
