Mayor’s Water Transparency
SUMMARY: During a conference at the courthouse in downtown Jackson, Mayor Lumumba expressed concerns about the lack of transparency and communication with residents and city leaders regarding the federal government's management of Jackson's water system. The mayor questioned who the third party administrator is working with and whether the contracted individuals have a history of incompetence. Over 20 organizations within the city share these concerns. The third party administrator, Ted Henifin, acknowledged these concerns but stated that members of the Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition were dissatisfied with his explanations. A helpline is available for residents to voice their concerns.
