Grammy-award winner Carly Pearce to perform at Pearl’s 50th anniversary concert

Grammy-award winner Carly Pearce will be helping celebrate the of Pearl's 50th anniversary as the headlining act at this year's Pearl Day Concert.

Pearce, who rose to fame in 2017 with her single “Every Little Thing,” is a three-time recipient of the Country Music Association Award, as well as a four-time winner of the Academy of Country Music Award.

The country music singer and songwriter will be as the main musical artist at the concert, along with performances from Travis Denning and Ben Burgess.

“We are thrilled to have a rising star in Carly Pearce coming to celebrate our 50th year as a city. Mississippi Medicaid expansion talks hit a wall

Award-winning Petal teacher charged with sex crimes

SUMMARY: A Petal teacher who received a $25,000 Milken Educator Award in 2022 has been charged with sex crimes involving several minor . 34-year-old Tyler Shows was engaged in questionable activities with at least a dozen students at Petal Upper Elementary School. Petal served Shows with three warrants for his arrest, distribution of sexual materials to a minor and touching a child for lustful purposes. Shows turned himself in and waived his right to a hearing, and will be booked into the Forrest County Jail. This arrest after Petal School District discovered instances of criminal conduct during an internal investigation.
