Eligibility renewal process for Medicaid recipients begins April 1

With the federal ending the continuous coverage requirement on March 31, the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) is notifying Medicaid members that eligibility renewals will begin on April 1.

During the public emergency, states and territories have continued to every person who has been eligible for Medicaid on or after March 18, 2020, even if their income or circumstances have changed and otherwise would no longer be eligible.

Under the Consolidated Appropriations Act passed in December, is now requiring states to begin the of redetermining the eligibility of all Medicaid members. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has instructed all states to begin normal redetermination operations by April 1.

To prepare for the return to annual renewals, DOM is sending notices to recipients alerting them to the change in federal requirements and to look for renewal forms in the mail in the months ahead…

Pearl River woman pleads guilty to stabbing tribal member

SUMMARY: Telinah Kowi Tek Farve, a woman from Pearl , pled guilty to assaulting a tribal member with a knife in the Pearl River Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation. Court documents show that in 2023, she stabbed the tribal member, causing serious bodily injury. Farve was indicted by a federal grand jury and pled guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. She is to be on August 6, 2024, facing a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. The Choctaw Department and the FBI investigated the case, and a federal district judge will determine her sentence based on sentencing guidelines and other factors.
