New organization offers help for children coming out of foster care
A recently founded organization, Brandon's Place, hosted an open house to show off its new facility and to show the community what it has to offer.
The non-profit is designed to help 18- to 25-year-olds, who have aged out of foster care, transition from living into adulthood through training, counseling, guidance, and mentoring.
The organization offers a variety of resources for the adults such as housing, skills training, education and more.

SUMMARY: Sanjuana Valtierra-Pettaway and Jennifer Canaan, senior social work students at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), have participated in the IMPACT Community Work Study Program, giving back to the community through organizations like Women of Wisdom and the Gulf Coast Center for Non-Violence. Canaan received the Volunteer of the Year award for her dedication, while Valtierra-Pettaway has gained valuable skills working with Women of Wisdom. The program allows students to connect with local communities, improve their career readiness, and make a positive impact.
