SUMMARY: This weekend, community members are invited to join “Picking Up the Point,” an event in south Mississippi organized by Steve Gun, who previously led a similar effort 14 years ago to teach his son about civic responsibility. Volunteers will clean areas along the beach that Harrison County’s maintenance teams can’t access, particularly along the seawall and the north side of Highway 90. The cleanup will start at 8:30 AM at the Street Pier, with provided trash bags, gloves, and refreshments. Gun emphasizes the importance of maintaining the area’s natural beauty and protecting local wildlife from litter.

The Coast community is coming together this weekend to clean up South Mississippi.
