Vaiden man going to prison for identity theft of 40 people
SUMMARY: 38-year-old Marcus Brown from Vaiden will serve six years in federal prison for aggravated identity theft and possessing fraudulent documents, followed by three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to having fraudulent identification documents of approximately 40 individuals across Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas, with the intent to use them in criminal activities. The court acted after Brown tried to escape custody. U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner recognized the investigators' efforts in dealing with the case, which caused significant distress to the victims. The United States Secret Service and Winona Police Department conducted the investigation.

SUMMARY: Gary Raymon Rush, a 35-year-old from Meridian, received a 50-year prison sentence without parole for sex crimes against a 12-year-old child. Circuit Court Judge Randi P. Mueller issued the sentence for sexual battery and two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes. Rush had been found guilty by a Biloxi jury after evidence surfaced that he had been caught in the victim's bedroom by a family member. The abuse occurred at night and started two weeks before it was discovered. Rush also had a prior guilty plea for attempted rape in Lauderdale County. He will serve his sentence in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
