USM students worry about stray cats on campus
SUMMARY: Zemek will be buried in Pensacola tomorrow afternoon, and some students from USM are making it their mission to take care of stray cats on campus. The students are volunteers who have been dedicated to caring for the cats despite safety concerns after wild dogs attacked some felines. This group, known as the “Feral Cat Society,” is asking for help to catch the dogs in order to save the other cat colonies on campus. Despite losing money invested in the cats, the group remains committed to their cause and are seeking a response from the university. Stay tuned for updates.

Cameras capturing hundreds speeding through school zones
SUMMARY: Hattisburg Police Department has introduced handheld radar cameras in school zones to catch speeding drivers. Crossing guards and officers have noticed some change, but many drivers are still not slowing down. Over 400 speeding violations have been recorded in the first two weeks of the pilot program, with some drivers going well over the 50 mph speed limit. Despite plea from officers to slow down and be mindful of crossing guards and children, some drivers continue to speed. The pilot program will continue throughout the school year, with plans to implement the technology in all school zones next year if successful.

Man arrested in standoff on Cooper Rd.
SUMMARY: Nolan is reporting live from the scene on Cooper Road where a shooting took place earlier. The suspect has been taken into custody after a standoff with the police. The incident occurred at the Village Apartments where a person was shot and is in critical condition. The police tracked the suspect's vehicle to a home on Cooper Road and were able to apprehend him after a search. The name of the suspect has not been released by the JPD.
