Two charged in death of JSU student released from custody
SUMMARY: In Jackson, Mississippi, two men accused in the shooting death of Jackson State University student Jaylen Burns were released from custody after appearing in court. Jamison Kelly, Jr., who allegedly drove suspect Joshua Brown from the scene, was freed because of insufficient evidence linking him to accessory to murder after the fact. Judge James Bell emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. After the court ruling, the respective fathers of Burns and Kelly had a heated confrontation and were escorted out. The fatal shooting occurred on October 15 at the University Pointe Apartment Complex, where Burns, an industrial technology major from Chicago, reportedly attempted to intervene in a fight. The current status of the charges against Brown is being investigated by WJTV 12 News.
