Mississippi State fires head football coach Zach Arnett
SUMMARY: Zach Arnett has been dismissed as the head football coach of Mississippi State University following a 51-10 loss to Texas A&M. Athletic Director Zac Selmon announced the decision, citing a need for change to advance the program. A search for a new head coach is ongoing, while Greg Knox, with 35 years of coaching experience, is appointed as interim head coach for the rest of the 2023 season. Knox previously led MSU to a victory in the 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl. Arnett had taken over after Mike Leach's death in December 2022 and had a 5-6 overall record this season. MSU still has games against Southern Miss and Ole Miss upcoming.
