Tri-Community VFD gets new road sign
SUMMARY: The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department in Columbia, Mississippi has added new bright-colored signs along the road to help alert and protect first responders and drivers. The signs, which look pink or purple, read “Emergency Scene Ahead” and serve as a warning to drivers approaching a crash scene. The signs are designed for easy setup and can be set up in less than a minute. The lieutenant of Station 5 hopes that these signs will help drivers realize they are passing through a sensitive zone and aid in their safety.

SUMMARY: Crestwood Elementary School held a mural painting event, where students, staff, parents, and community members came together to create a colorful mural on the school wall. The event included free food and entertainment for everyone to enjoy while painting. The interactive mural will allow students and teachers to be expressive and creative, with sections for shout-outs, student recognition, and student artwork. Crestwood received a $5,000 grant to beautify their campus and create permanent artwork. West Lauderdale High School also held a similar event, their second annual Market, to showcase student talent and creativity.

This unique run, organized by Time to Run, involved achieving milestone levels during the race. The event aimed to support Carage and future events like this. Time to Run has been timing events in Mississippi since 2010 and began organizing trail runs a few years ago. The circle of the Dragon run is the third of its kind, with participants striving to complete challenges within the race. The event's proceeds will contribute to Carage's future events.
For some, this is their first time participating while others have done trail runs for many years.
