Thomas Crabtree’s dominance honored by MACCC
SUMMARY: Thomas Crabtree of No. 4 Pearl River has clinched his second consecutive Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Pitcher of the Week award, following an outstanding performance against Hinds. He almost achieved a perfect game, letting only one infield single through in the eighth inning. Crabtree ended the game with a remarkable tally of seven innings pitched, 13 strikeouts, one hit, zero runs, and zero walks. This season, he boasts a 6-1 record with a 2.54 ERA and 69 strikeouts. Next, Pearl River will face Copiah-Lincoln and then take on the Biloxi Shuckers, a Double-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Pearl River softball earns nine All-MACCC awards
SUMMARY: Following a second consecutive 40-win season, the Pearl River softball team celebrated numerous accolades as eight Wildcats were distinguished in the All-Conference teams by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC). Natalie Herrington was honored as the MACCC Pitcher of the Year and secured a First Team All-MACCC spot due to her standout performance, including a 1.69 ERA and 184 strikeouts over 169 1/3 innings. Lainee Bailey and Morgan Lavergne also earned places on the First Team All-MACCC due to their exceptional contributions. Additionally, Peyton Hoffmayer and Bryn Daughtery received Second Team honors, while Natalie Toups and Caroline Lindsey were recognized with Honorable Mentions. Coach Christie Meeks praised the hard work and dedication of the awarded players, highlighting their commitment on the field, in the classroom, and in representing Pearl River positively.

Resurrection’s Historic 1A Title Run Reaches Roadblock At Taylorsville
SUMMARY: Resurrection Catholic's attempt to win a third straight state championship ended as they were defeated by Taylorsville in the Class 1A South State championship series. The Tartars secured an 8-0 victory in the decisive third game with a strong early lead by scoring six runs in the first two innings, ultimately ending the game with a seven-hit attack and strong pitching by Terry Barnes, who allowed only three hits. Resurrection Catholic, which had a historic run over the last four seasons, was unable to perform offensively, managing just three hits and committing three errors in their final game.

George County Pours Runs In 6A South State Title Victory At PRC
SUMMARY: George County emerged victorious in the Class 6A South State championship after defeating Pearl River Central with a final score of 12-1 in Game Three, marking their first state finals appearance since 2018. The teams had one win each from their initial two games. George County took a decisive lead in the second inning of the deciding game, scoring seven runs, partially due to Pearl River Central's errors, and continued their dominance when the game resumed after a rain delay, eventually scoring 12 unanswered runs.
