This is the safest small town in Mississippi: report
SUMMARY: An analysis of crime data in small towns and cities with populations between 30,000 and 100,000 was conducted by MoneyGeek in order to calculate the cost of crime in each area. The study found that many of the safest small communities are located in the Northeast, with Monroe Township, New Jersey taking the top spot. Zionsville, Indiana; Mason, Ohio; and Lone Peak, Utah also scored highly. However, some small towns are not as safe, with Monroe, Louisiana having a higher cost of crime than the majority of large cities. Although violent crime dropped nationwide in 2022, property crime jumped by 7.1%.

SUMMARY: Columbus voters approved a $36 million school bond issue with nearly 85% of voters in favor, surpassing the required 60% majority. The funds will be used for modernization, renovations, and additions in the Columbus Municipal School District. SUMMARY: A mother and her two daughters were shot and killed in Ridgeland, Mississippi. The suspect, Ivory James Welch III, was involved in a gunfight with Arizona state troopers and was killed. The victims were identified as Ida Thomas Welch, 76; Vicky Renee Welch, 56; and Crystal Lynn Welch, 42. Ridgeland police Chief Brian Myers mentioned that Welch had a history of mental illness and previous encounters with law enforcement. The motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing with the help of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Welch had an extensive criminal history of domestic assaults and simple assaults dating back to 2006.
