SUMMARY: Primary Election Day is a week away and voters should be aware of certain details. The party primaries are on August 8 and voters can participate in only one party's primary. If a runoff is necessary, it'll happen on August 29. It's suggested to review the sample ballot prior to voting. For the general election, all candidates are on a single ballot. ID is required for voting. Due to recent redistricting, confirm your precinct location for voting, which can be found via the county website or by calling the circuit clerk's office. Absentee voting is available until Saturday noon.

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
