The nearest ER is at least 20 miles away from Chickasaw County
SUMMARY: Trace Regional Hospital in Houston, Mississippi is reopening its emergency room after a long closure, now under the management of Quentin Whitwell, CEO of Progressive Health Group, who purchased the area’s only hospital. This decision was influenced by an incident where a local woman couldn’t find an open emergency room. Residents of Chickasaw County, like Supervisor Russell Brooks, appreciate the access to local emergency care, cutting down on the need to travel long distances in critical moments. Whitwell acknowledges that while not all services are offered, the hospital will ensure patients receive the necessary care through transfer agreements with larger facilities.
