Terry Merry Christmas
SUMMARY: In the 1930s, a population measure was put in place in the city of Terry that has helped to keep the population steady. The city is getting into the holiday spirit by spreading Christmas cheer in an unconventional way. Police officers in Terry pulled over unsuspecting drivers and instead of issuing citations, they offered salutations and cash. They also distributed toys to children. This initiative is part of building a better relationship with the community, particularly with children. The mayor and other officials participated in the operation, aiming to bring joy and holiday spirit to the residents of Terry.

State auditor reflects on his work and his future
SUMMARY: New State Auditor Shad White gained recognition for investigations into misspent welfare money, including a legal battle with Brett Favre over nearly $730,000 in interest on improperly received funds. A judge will determine if White or the attorney general can sue for the money. White has been active in recovering funds during his tenure and has a book about the welfare investigation set for release in August. Despite the focus on welfare fraud, the auditor's office has been involved in numerous other cases. White has been in office for over five years and has recovered more money than in any other five-year period in the office's history.

16 Investigates: 2 house explosions, 1 death
SUMMARY: Months after gas explosions destroyed homes and cost a woman her life in South Jackson, investigation into the incidents revealed that natural gas lines in the city need repairs. Atmos Energy identified gas leaks in the area before the explosions, but considered them non-hazardous. The fallout from the explosions has led to concerns about gas pipeline safety in the city and statewide. Atmos Energy claims to prioritize safety and invest in enhancements, but concerns remain about the extent of the gas leak problem beyond Jackson. Public Service Commissioner Decatur Stamps emphasized the importance of safety measures such as calling 911 if gas is smelled and calling 811 before digging.
