Suspect wanted for burglary of a residence in Gulfport

SUMMARY: On August 31, 2023, a male suspect, identified as Damarius Tyree Gatewood, allegedly forced entry into a house on Shirley Drive, chased the occupant with a metal pipe, damaged the victim's windshield, and fled before police arrived. Gatewood, a 31-year-old black male, approximately 6ft tall, 160lbs, with black hair and brown eyes, is wanted on a felony warrant through the Gulfport Police Department. The public is urged to contact Gulfport Police or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers with any information.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
