SUMMARY: The southern six counties experienced temperatures above 100 degrees, with a stationery front expected to weaken overnight. Due to heat indices from 105-110, a heat advisory is in effect from 10am to 8pm Monday. A tropical wave is moving across the Gulf of Mexico with a 70% chance of formation, expected to result in partly cloudy skies and a possible shower or thunderstorm. High temperatures will continue into Tuesday and Wednesday. Increased rain is forecast for the rest of the week. There will be mid-90s temperatures and showers over the weekend.

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
