Summer gas prices in Mississippi
SUMMARY: As summer approaches, experts predict that gas prices for vacations and activities will remain relatively stable compared to last year. The national average for regular gas is $3.65 per gallon, with Mississippi's average at $3.38. Prices have been fluctuating but overall stabilizing post-pandemic. AAA spokesman suggests that if oil prices continue trending, drivers can expect similar prices at the pump as last year. In the Pine Belt area, the lowest gas prices can be found in Jones, Hington, Jasper, and Wayne counties at slightly below $3 per gallon. Despite previous fluctuations, gas prices are expected to remain consistent heading into the summer.
As the summertime quickly approaches, some folks will be spending extra money on gas for vacations and other activities.

Mother of fallen Monroe County deputy upset after someone stole items from son's grave
SUMMARY: Recent cemetery vandalism in West Point, Yabish County, and Amory has drawn attention, with Sergeant Dylan Pickle's grave being notably affected. Sgt. Pickle, who served with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, died in a traffic incident nearly four years ago. Visitors would leave coins on his grave, which held deep personal significance for his mother, Debbie Pearson. Recently, nearly $10 in coins was stolen, leaving only 4 cents. Other graves in the area have also been targeted. Pearson's cameras previously caught someone stealing solar lights from the site. Authorities urge the public to report any such vandalism to prevent future incidents.

They highlighted their duty to assist those impacted by crime and ensure victims feel cared for and updated. Leaders stressed the importance of registering to receive victim services to maintain ongoing support and advocacy.
