SUMMARY: Lingering showers are expected to clear by 9 a.m. with mainly clear skies in the afternoon and temperatures rising to the upper 60s and low 70s. Thousands of residents in Mississippi are without power due to strong storms causing fallen trees and downed power lines. Some roads are impassable due to flooding. A portion of Monument Street in Jackson is blocked due to flooding from yesterday's severe weather. High wind speeds also caused trees to fall and roads to be blocked. Drivers should take extra precautions during their morning commute. Fire units responded to a fallen tree in Florence, requiring heavy machinery to clear the road.
