Starkville sorority chapter honors sanitation workers
SUMMARY: Local members of Zeta Phi Beta sorority in Starkville honored the city's sanitation and environment service workers with a lunch in recognition of Black History Month. The event paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who showed support for striking sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee shortly before he was assassinated. The volunteers emphasized the essential role of these workers and urged people to appreciate the hard work they do every day, including during inclement weather. The Pi Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority hosted the event, aiming to bring attention to the importance of the often unnoticed sanitation and environment service employees.
