Starkville police receive grant to purchase more license plate readers
SUMMARY: Starkville police in Mississippi have received a $30,000 grant to purchase three new license plate readers (LPRs) to improve community safety. The LPRs will be strategically placed throughout the community to provide real-time information to assist law enforcement. The readers will scan license plates and provide information on the make and model of the vehicle, helping to identify stolen vehicles or those involved in crimes. However, the equipment will not issue tickets. The department is waiting for the new LPRs to arrive, which will complement the two operational ones already in use.
