Shelters in northeast Mississippi are participating in the 'Empty the Shelters' event
SUMMARY: Animal shelters in North Mississippi are currently at over capacity, prompting the Bissell Pet Foundation to launch the National Empty the Shelters event from May 1st to May 15th. This initiative aims to find forever homes for pets by sponsoring reduced adoption fees of $50 or less. Participating shelters, such as the Tupelo Lee Humane Society and the Oxford Animal Resource Center, are offering adult dogs and cats for adoption at $50. Since its inception, this effort has helped over 226,000 pets find loving homes. This campaign seeks to alleviate the overcrowding in shelters and give animals a chance at a better life.
The Tupelo Humane Society and the Oxford Animal Resource Center are both taking part in this initiative.
