Sharing the holiday spirit in Covington County
SUMMARY: Officers with the Covington County Sheriff's Department shared the holiday spirit by making special house calls. They delivered home-cooked turkey dinners to many senior citizens and homebound residents. Meanwhile, the department's annual toy drive called “Pack a Patrol Car,” brought in dozens of toys and cash donations to benefit some underprivileged children in the county. Charles Herrington tells us more as the hallway at the Covington County Sheriff's Department became a place where homecooked meals of turkey, dumplings, and cranberry sauce were boxed and delivered to nearly three dozen senior residents or shut-ins across the county.

Man dies in fiery crash on Old Canton Road in Jackson
SUMMARY: One person died in a fiery crash in Jackson early this morning around 1:30 at Rolling Meadows Drive. A Jackson Police officer stopped a speeding vehicle on Old Canton Road, where the driver explained he was rushing to a friend's accident. The officer followed the driver to the crash site and found a vehicle that had collided with a tree. The occupant's body was pinned and severely burned. The driver succumbed to their injuries, according to the Hinds County Coroner.
