Church, United Healthcare join forces for Sunday turkey giveaway
SUMMARY: During the holiday season, preparations are being made for Advent in December. Residents of Oak Grove received free turkeys as well as insurance advice through a drive organized by Freedom Rock Church in Meridian and United Healthcare. High school students volunteered to pass out the turkeys, and United Healthcare also provided information about Medicare open enrollment and other health resources. This event meant a lot to those involved and allowed them to extend a genuine gift of thanks in this Thanksgiving season.

Jackson fire station demolished
SUMMARY: The Jackson Fire Department is bidding farewell to their old Fire Station 20 on Medgar Evers Boulevard as demolition crews begin tearing down the building. Tree falls into South Jackson home

Houston educator receives VFW top award
SUMMARY: Stacy Chapman, an English language arts teacher at Houston Middle School, received the VFW's top award for national citizenship education.
