Saucier man sentenced to 60 years for sex crimes

SUMMARY: Kendal Wayne Bodie, a 37-year-old man from Saucier, Mississippi, was convicted of two counts of Sexual Battery and one count of Touching a Child for Lustful Purposes by a Harrison County jury. He was sentenced to a total of sixty years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The investigation began when allegations of sexual abuse to a minor were reported to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office. The jury heard about Bodie's eight years of maltreatment, including sexual abuse and physical violence. The victim, now between 13 and 14 years old, courageously came forward to break the silence. Bodie will serve his sentence without parole or early release.

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
