Mothershed earned degrees in education and counseling, worked as a teacher and counselor, and made significant contributions until her retirement. She leaves behind a son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each member of the Little Rock Nine received a Congressional Gold Medal, which they donated to the Clinton Presidential Library.
