Thelma Mothershed Wair, a member of the Little Rock Nine who integrated an Arkansas school, has died

SUMMARY: Thelma Mothershed Wair, one of the “Little Rock Nine” who integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, has died at 83 complications from multiple sclerosis. Mothershed earned degrees in education and counseling, worked as a teacher and counselor, and made significant contributions until her retirement. She leaves behind a son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each member of the Little Rock Nine received a Congressional Gold Medal, which they donated to the Clinton Presidential Library.
