Rolling Fork continuing recovery from tornado

SUMMARY: Rolling Fork, Mississippi are still rebuilding more than 6 months after an EF-4 tornado ripped through the city. While some progress has been made, there are still many families in need of assistance. The Salvation Army has been helping residents and is still accepting monetary donations to support those who lost furniture, appliances, and other household goods. Efforts have been made to provide housing to those who were displaced, but there is still more work to be done. The community is coming together to support one another and volunteers are still needed.

The upcoming “Year of the Penguin” aims to raise funds for a new penguin habitat. Visitors can enjoy penguin encounters, enhancing the educational and interactive experience at the aquarium.

Representatives from the Mississippi Aquarium joined WTVA 9 News TODAY to talk about their new facility, a virtual reality experience and the year of the penguin.

Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes is addressing confusion about new parking meters downtown, activated on May 1st.
