Roads in downtown Pontotoc will close this weekend for Bodock Festival
SUMMARY: The 29th annual Bulldog Festival is happening in Pontotoc this weekend, causing some traffic impacts. Pontotoc police announced that Main Street will be closed from the intersection of Marion Street and Green Street, starting at 5:30 on Friday. On Saturday, Main Street will be closed from the intersection of West Reynolds to Green Street, starting at 6 am. Additionally, streets around the courthouse Square, including Marion, Liberty, and Washington streets, will also be closed during the festival.
Some roads in downtown Pontotoc will close this weekend for the Bodock Festival.

New Houlka is increasing its water and sewer rates
SUMMARY: The town of New Hoka has approved an increase in water and sewer rates, affecting water customers in the area. The rates will go up by $4, from $21 to $25 for the first 2,000 gallons, appearing on the July 2024 water bill. The decision was made due to rising operating costs caused by an increase in the price of supplies and materials. This is the first rate hike in 5 years and is meant to help the town maintain its current budget. Residents are advised to be aware of this change in their water bills.
Both water and sewer will increase by four dollars.

East Union defeats Pisgah in Softball State Championships
SUMMARY: In the State softball championships, East Union faced off against Pisa with Miss softball Lucy Cochran leading the way. With a dominating performance, East Union held a 1-0 lead going into the sixth inning. Pisa had a chance to score, but East Union managed to throw out a runner at home plate. In the seventh inning, Marley Clayton added an insurance run with an RBI single. Cochran pitched the entire game, securing a shutout win with a final score of 3-0. East Union emerged victorious in a hard-fought matchup at the championships.

JPD investigates homicide at Parham Bridges Park
