Rankin County NAACP calls for removal of sheriff
SUMMARY: In January, two men named Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker were tortured by law enforcement officers in Rankin County. The individuals involved are known as the “goon squad” and they are set to be sentenced by a federal judge next month. The NAACP is requesting that the judge give them the maximum prison sentences. There is also a focus on removing Sheriff Brian Bailey from his position and a petition for his removal started in August has been circulated amongst registered Rankin County voters. The NAACP aims to make the petition available online.

Jackson has a gang problem

The 71st annual Jimmie Rodgers Festival held Jimmie’s Jam Session at the MAX
