Primary ballots will include presidential candidates who dropped out
SUMMARY: The Secretary of State's office explains that names of candidates who withdrew from the race for the White House will still appear on the ballot because they missed the deadline set by state law. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley suspended her campaign, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy withdrew weeks ago. Some voters, like Chris Stewart and Angela Fontenot, say it won't make a difference to them as they would vote for Trump regardless of who is on the ballot. This highlights the importance of adhering to state laws and deadlines in the election process.

River Avenue Bridge nearing completion
SUMMARY: Months of work on the River Avenue Bridge connecting Hattisburg and Pedal in Forrest County have been delayed, leaving drivers still unable to use it. Leaders say the bridge is nearing completion but are unable to provide a projected opening date due to unforeseen delays caused by rain. Crews still need to grind down uneven spots in the concrete before painting the railing and allowing traffic. Once completed, a portion of South Main Street will close for drainage pipe installation. While they work to finish the project, drivers are reminded to be cautious and patient around the construction site.
After months of work and pushed back dates, people in Forrest County are still unable to drive over the River Avenue Bridge connecting Hattiesburg and Petal.
