Power out at Tupelo Middle: Students sent home
SUMMARY: Heavy rain in north Mississippi caused a power outage at Tupelo Middle School, prompting the school to send students home for the day. The excess water in the electrical boxes caused a transformer to blow. Tupelo Water and Light responded quickly, but repairs will take several hours. The city's drainage ditches were filling up with water, and the Tupelo Regional Airport received over five inches of rain in the last 24 hours. County Road 66 in Yalobusha County is closed due to a washed-out culvert. Drivers are advised to be cautious and not attempt to drive through flooded roads.
