Mother of brutally beaten one-year-old in custody, another suspect at large
SUMMARY: Two people, including the one-year-old child's mother, have been charged in the beating death of the child. Yolanda Hunter turned herself in after the child was beaten to death on Thursday morning and is being charged with felony child abuse. Her acquaintance, Herman Coleman, is also being charged and is currently being searched for by Jackson police. The chief of police expects the charges to be upgraded to capital murder. Fallen law enforcement officers remembered, honored during Hattiesburg ceremony
SUMMARY: Today, in honor of National Police Week, a ceremony was held to honor 11 fallen police officers from Forest and Lamar counties in Mississippi. The Pine Bell area law enforcement memorial ceremony paid tribute to the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their community. Family members of the fallen officers spoke about the importance of remembering their loved ones. The names of the officers were read aloud, roses were placed in their honor, and a gun salute and trumpet performance of TAPS occurred. Community leaders came together to show support and appreciation for the officers who gave their lives in service.
